Rohan Gurram Is Going All In on Acting and Film

Rohan Gurram has spent much of his career building companies, working with creators, and studying how people earn attention.

Now, he is turning that attention toward acting and film.

The decision is not a departure from his earlier work. Gurram sees it as the next step in a larger creative direction that already includes cinematic content, music, fashion, interviews, and the world he is building through RG.

“I realized I did not only want to talk about ambition,” Gurram said. “I wanted to create stories that let people experience it.”

Film gives him that opportunity.

A business idea can be explained. A philosophy can be written down. A conversation can reveal how someone thinks. Film can combine all of it through character, performance, music, setting, silence, and conflict.

That range is what drew Gurram toward acting.

He is especially interested in stories about power, loyalty, identity, ambition, family, failure, and the people someone becomes while pursuing something difficult. Those ideas have already shaped much of his work. Acting allows him to explore them from inside a character rather than only as a founder or interviewer.

Gurram also believes media has played a major role in shaping how Indian American men are perceived.

While representation has increased, Indian American men are still rarely given the full range afforded to many established leading-man archetypes. They are often visible as intelligent, funny, successful, or dependable characters, but less often positioned as romantic leads, antiheroes, cultural tastemakers, or figures with real authority and cinematic presence.

That gap has become part of his motivation.

“I grew up seeing very few Indian American men presented with the kind of weight given to the characters I admired,” Gurram said. “I do not want to spend my career waiting for that image to appear.”

His plan is to develop the craft while creating his own opportunities to perform.

That includes original scenes, short films, character-driven projects, and cinematic work released through RG. Rather than treating social media as a place to post promotional clips, Gurram wants to use it as a distribution system for complete ideas and original stories.

The strategy reflects a broader change in entertainment.

Actors once depended almost entirely on studios, networks, casting directors, and established production companies to place them in front of an audience. Those institutions still matter, but they are no longer the only way to build proof.

A performer can now create the character, produce the scene, develop the visual identity, and find an audience before receiving traditional permission.

Gurram intends to do both: train seriously and build independently.

He is not approaching acting as a temporary extension of his personal brand. He wants to become capable of carrying major dramatic roles and eventually contributing to film at a much larger scale.

That requires patience.

Entrepreneurship often rewards speed. Acting requires repetition, vulnerability, observation, and a willingness to be bad before becoming good. Gurram believes that tension is part of why the pursuit matters.

“In business, I learned to build the environment around the work,” he said. “With acting, I have to become better at the work itself.”

The move also brings together parts of his background that once appeared separate.

His experience in music shaped his understanding of tone and rhythm. Building companies taught him how to assemble teams and execute ideas. Talent management showed him how careers are developed behind the scenes. His work in content taught him how audiences respond to story, image, and personality.

Film gives those interests a shared direction.

Over time, Gurram wants his work to move across acting, directing, producing, music, and original media. He sees each discipline as part of the same goal: building stories and characters with enough depth to remain meaningful beyond a single post or platform.

Going all in does not mean abandoning everything else.

It means deciding what everything else is building toward.

For Gurram, the answer is film.
