McIntyre Demands Government Apology and $250 Million Compensation Over ASIC Land-Banking Action

McIntyre Demands Government Apology and 0 Million Compensation Over ASIC Land-Banking Action
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Australian entrepreneur and political commentator Jamie McIntyre has demanded a formal public apology from the Australian Government and AUD $250 million in compensation over ASIC’s intervention in his former land-banking projects more than a decade ago.

Mr McIntyre alleges that ASIC’s actions destroyed otherwise viable projects, caused substantial investor losses and were later used to portray him publicly as responsible for those losses.

He maintains that this version of events is false.

“ASIC caused the losses—not me,” Mr McIntyre said.

“ASIC intervened in the projects, pursued court action and installed liquidators whose involvement ultimately rendered the projects insolvent. ASIC was the government agency with the power to cause that outcome, yet the public narrative was manipulated to blame me.”

The allegations against ASIC and the media remain Mr McIntyre’s claims and have not been judicially established.

McIntyre Says He Predicted the Outcome

Mr McIntyre says he warned of precisely this outcome when appearing as an invited speaker before a Senate committee examining land-banking schemes.

During the hearing, he became involved in a heated exchange with former Senator Sam Dastyari, who subsequently resigned from Parliament amid a separate political controversy concerning his dealings with Chinese-linked donors.

Mr McIntyre says he warned the committee that ASIC would deliberately bring about the collapse of the projects, appoint liquidators and then work alongside sections of the mainstream media to blame the resulting losses on him.

“I predicted exactly what they would do,” he said.

“I warned that ASIC would cause the losses and then point to those same losses as evidence against me. Once the projects had been rendered insolvent, the media narrative would falsely claim that I had caused investors to lose money.”

Mr McIntyre says Australian media reports continue to repeat allegations that he caused losses through his land-banking projects without properly examining ASIC’s role in the projects’ collapse.

Allegations of Systemic Regulatory Abuse

Mr McIntyre alleges that his case was not an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern of regulatory misconduct.

He claims ASIC has repeatedly intervened in investment projects in ways that destroy value, cause investor losses and strengthen the regulator’s position in subsequent court proceedings.

“If there are no investor losses, ASIC has a much weaker case,” he said.

“My allegation is that losses are allowed—or even deliberately caused—to make regulatory proceedings appear more serious and to help ASIC obtain the orders it seeks from the courts.

“That is not investor protection. It is regulatory abuse, and it deserves an independent investigation.”

Mr McIntyre further alleges that ASIC acted deliberately, provocatively and, in his opinion, fraudulently. ASIC would be entitled to respond to these allegations, all of which are disputed unless established through an independent investigation or court process.

Ten-Year Corporate Ban Nears Its End

Mr McIntyre’s ten-year corporate-management ban is due to expire on 16 October 2026.

He says the ban should never have been imposed and maintains that he did nothing dishonest or improper.

“I should never have been banned from corporate life,” he said.

“I remain willing to defend my record publicly and produce the evidence supporting my position. I was politically targeted, and the Australian public was given a fundamentally misleading account of what happened.”

Mr McIntyre alleges that government agencies and sections of the Australian media acted together to damage his reputation for politically motivated reasons.

He believes his outspoken political positions—including his opposition to vaccine mandates and his criticism of Israel’s military actions in Gaza—have contributed to renewed media scrutiny more than a decade after the original ASIC proceedings.

He also rejects recent reports concerning his Indonesian property developments, describing them as a continuation of what he considers a longstanding campaign of false and misleading reporting.

“They are repeating old allegations and attaching them to an entirely different property business in Indonesia,” he said.

“It is fake news built upon earlier fake news. Allegations are published as though they are established facts, while evidence contradicting the preferred narrative is ignored.”

Demand for Apology, Compensation and Independent Inquiry

Mr McIntyre is calling for:

* A formal public apology from the Australian Government and ASIC.

* AUD $250 million in compensation for the alleged destruction of his businesses, reputation and economic opportunities.

* An independent investigation into ASIC’s conduct in the land-banking proceedings.

* An examination of communications between ASIC officials, liquidators and media organisations.

* Corrections from media outlets that continue to report that Mr McIntyre caused investor losses without adequately addressing ASIC’s intervention.

* A review of whether ASIC has used similar tactics against other investment promoters and projects.

Mr McIntyre says that unless the Government acknowledges what occurred, he will continue releasing evidence and pursuing all available lawful avenues for accountability.

“I am demanding justice, transparency and a public correction of the record,” he said.

“If the Government refuses to apologise, I will continue exposing the evidence of wrongdoing and seeking accountability through every lawful avenue available to me.

“After more than a decade, the Australian Government, ASIC and the media organisations involved must answer a simple question: who actually caused the investor losses?”

Mr McIntyre says he is prepared to debate the matter publicly and challenges ASIC and the journalists responsible for the relevant reporting to produce the evidence supporting their claims.

“The ban may be ending, but my pursuit of the truth is not,” he said.

“This is no longer simply about clearing my name. It is about exposing what I believe is a systemic failure of regulation, government accountability and Australian journalism.”
