In a field where new technology can move faster than the evidence behind it, Dr. Elaine Lim Ee Lian has built her reputation in Malaysia’s implant dentistry field on a different premise: that treatment decisions should follow the science, not the trend. As Director of E.L. Lim Dental Surgery, an implant-focused practice in Malaysia, she has spent her career working to narrow the gap between what implant dentistry can do and what it can reliably support with evidence.
Her clinical focus spans oral implantology, sinus grafting, hard and soft tissue augmentation, and implant prosthodontics. A graduate of the University of Malaya, Dr. Lim holds the MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and completed a PhD in Oral Surgery, also at the University of Malaya, in 2024. She is a Fellow, Master, and Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD).
Beyond her own clinic, she serves as President of the Osseointegration Society of Malaysia and Malaysia Section Chairman of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and is a frequent international speaker, roles that keep her closely involved in implant education and international scientific exchange. She is also recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records as the first female international table tennis umpire for the Olympic Games, and received the 2024 JCI Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians Award.
Most recently, that body of work was recognized with the International Award for Advancement in Implant Dentistry, presented on 30 June 2026 at the International Business Leadership Recognition Award 2026 by Y.A.M. Tengku Sulaiman Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, Tengku Laksamana Selangor. The award recognized her contributions to clinical practice, research, education, and professional leadership in implant dentistry.
“Receiving this award is a tremendous honor and motivates me to continue advancing evidence-based implant dentistry, professional education, and patient care,” Dr. Lim said.
Coinciding with the recognition, E.L. Lim Dental Surgery has reinforced its focus on implant dentistry by becoming, according to the company, one of the first clinics in the country to introduce the POINT Implant UV Activator, a technology designed to prepare titanium implant surfaces immediately before placement. By supporting implant surface hydrophilicity through ultraviolet activation, the technology may support early bone attachment, implant stability, and osseointegration.
